Recap: Walnut Wildcats vs. Corinth Warriors
The Walnut Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. Their tough 78-58 loss to Corinth might stick with them for a while. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Corinth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Griffen Enis, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Xae Mayes, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Walnut's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-8. As for Corinth, their win bumped their record up to an identical 7-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walnut has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Blue Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Blue Mountain is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Corinth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kossuth at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Kossuth will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Corinth is ranked 98th).
