Basketball Recap: Lena Bowlin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City over Dieterich

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 52-36 to the Dieterich Movin Maroons. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Movin Maroons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lena Bowlin, who posted eight points along with seven boards and three blocks. Those seven rebounds gave Bowlin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avrie Vaughn, who put up 11 points.

Dieterich got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brittney Niemerg out in front who scored 15 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The contest was Niemerg's third in a row with at least ten points. Kady Tegler was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Dieterich, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-10.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City has already played their next matchup (against Father McGivney Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dieterich will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Robinson at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
