Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem Hills). They walked away with a 41-28 win over the Uintah Utes on Friday. This was payback for the Skyhawks, who suffered an 18-15 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Salem Hills got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryder Hales out in front who threw for 223 yards and two TDs, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Staheli, who rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown.

Salem Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Gordon Wilson, Staheli, and Jake Polson picked up one apiece. Sam Bradford was another major factor on D, making 26 total tackles.

Despite the loss, Uintah saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lukas Turner picked up four sacks and made eight total tackles. The Utes also got help from Romeo Garcia, who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.

Salem Hills now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Uintah, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Salem Hills wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-7 win against Mountain View on the 9th. As for Uintah, they have also already played their next matchup, a 64-2 loss against Provo on the 10th.
