Basketball Recap: Dayspring Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Dayspring Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Heritage Christian Eagles and fell 72-23. While losing is never fun, Dayspring Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Heritage Christian is ranked 113th).

Despite the defeat, Dayspring Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Max Krehbiel posted five points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for Krehbiel.

Heritage Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alec Lundy, who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Lundy a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Hermsen, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points along with six assists and six steals.

Dayspring Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Heritage Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Dayspring Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-39 win against Front Range Christian on the 10th. As for Heritage Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-50 defeat against SkyView Academy on the 10th.
