Softball Game Preview: Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes vs. Fort Lauderdale Flying L's

The Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Fort Lauderdale Flying L at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Pompano Beach is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They fell just short of Cardinal Gibbons by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday.

Pompano Beach saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was GABI OLIVER, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against South Broward by a score of 7-2. The win continues a trend for the Flying L's in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Kylie Keenan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Quinn McFadden was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Tannar Keenan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Pompano Beach took their victory against Fort Lauderdale when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3. Will Pompano Beach repeat their success, or does Fort Lauderdale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
