After flying high against Derby on Tuesday, Waterbury Career Academy came back down to earth. The Spartans fell 15-12 to the Kennedy Eagles on Wednesday. Even though they lost, the Spartans' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Janessa Campos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and ten unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Trinitey Sanchez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Payton Godfrey, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Waterbury Career Academy dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Kennedy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
