Baseball Recap: Urbana Takes a Loss

Urbana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Centennial Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 7-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Miguel Hernandez-Freites was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with five stolen bases and two runs. Ethan Murphy also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Urbana's defeat dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Centennial, they pushed their record up to 12-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Centennial will head out to challenge Westville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Urbana will be paying especially close attention to Centennial's game: after Centennial faces off against Westville, they'll take on Urbana again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
