Basketball Recap: Weddington Snaps 16-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

On Friday, the Weddington Warriors opened the new year with a less-than-successful 62-54 loss to the Nation Ford Falcons .

Despite the defeat, Weddington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Myles Vicks went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Barbier, who posted ten points.

Ben Chuttey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Nation Ford, going 7 of 15 on his way to 20 points. Anthony Pryer was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.

Weddington's loss ended a 16-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-4. As for Nation Ford, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-6.

Weddington will be playing in front of their home fans against East Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nation Ford, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-52 win against Lakeside on the 4th.
