Recap: Cornerstone Family Saints vs. St. Joseph D Defenders
The Cornerstone Family Saints lost against the St. Joseph D Defenders back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Cornerstone Family's tough 55-34 defeat to St. Joseph D might stick with them for a while. Cornerstone Family has not had much luck with St. Joseph D recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Cornerstone Family's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaylee Heinen, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and Liz Brown who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Heinen scored a full 44.1% of Cornerstone Family's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Cornerstone Family were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cornerstone Family's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for St. Joseph D, the win was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Cornerstone Family will be home for the holidays to greet Onaga at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Onaga focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday. St. Joseph D will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Blue Ridge Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
