The Springstead Eagles will face off against the Gulf Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springstead will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
While Springstead's victory against Hudson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cobras 5-4. Five seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
The team relied heavily on Kaylana Lyons, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Rachel Rivera was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Springstead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hudson only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gulf, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Clearwater 6-5.
Jeovanna Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gulf's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Julianna Carter, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Springstead's record is now 15-1. As for Gulf, their record now sits at 9-4.
Gulf's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Springstead has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. It's a different story for Gulf, though, as they've only averaged .338. Will they be able to contain Springstead's hitters?
Springstead beat Gulf 4-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
