Basketball Recap: Ashville Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Leigha Nichols and Maddie R. Sanders + How To Watch

Ashville lost against Alexandria back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bulldogs took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Cubs. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Maddie R. Sanders and Leigha Nichols certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Sanders posted 16 points and eight boards, while Nichols scored eight points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Talisha Samaniego, who earned two points along with six boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Ashville and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Alexandria, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Ashville won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cedar Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Alexandria, they will take on Glencoe at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
