Softball Game Preview: Ralston Valley Mustangs vs. Lakewood Tigers

The Ralston Valley Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Lakewood Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ralston Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Friday, Ralston Valley came up short against Fort Collins and fell 10-5.

Meanwhile, Lakewood faced Columbine in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Rebels. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the game before.

Addison Gallegos was a standout: she fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-3. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucy Retzer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Ralston Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Lakewood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Ralston Valley couldn't quite get it done against Lakewood when the teams last played on September 9th as they fell 11-6. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
