Baseball Recap: San Diego Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Diego). They put the hurt on the Rich Township Raptors with a sharp 14-6 win on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cavers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

George Carabet tossed a big game, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit. He is becoming a predictor of San Diego's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 0-5 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aidan Hochman, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Harris, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5.

San Diego kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

San Diego's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.

Coming up, San Diego will venture away from home to challenge Chula Vista at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chula Vista will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something San Diego surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rich Township, they will square off against St. Bernard at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games St. Bernard has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
