Basketball Recap: Parkview Panthers vs. Stephenson Jaguars
It was a proper cat-fight when Parkview took on Stephenson on Tuesday. The Panthers fell 52-43 to the Jaguars. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Baileigh Page, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 11 points. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Evans, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Leading Stephenson to victory were Sarah Okorowanta and Avantey Gilreath. Okorowanta dropped a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds, while Gilreath dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards. Thanks to that strong game, Okorowanta now owns an excellent 50% field goal percentage. Wadole Mila also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Parkview suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Stephenson, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
