Basketball Game Preview: Miami Beach Hi-Tides vs. North Miami Pioneers

The Miami Beach Hi-Tides just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the North Miami Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Miami Beach managed to keep up with Reagan until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Miami Beach was outmatched by Reagan and fell 70-43. While losing is never fun, the Hi-Tides can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Bison are ranked 114th).

Meanwhile, North Miami had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 11 last Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tornadoes 86-35. The Pioneers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Miami Beach better keep an eye on Jonathan Joseph. He was instrumental in North Miami's win, going 8 of 10 en route to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Calando Joseph, who posted seven points in addition to six assists and five boards.

North Miami was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

North Miami's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Miami Beach, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Miami Beach came up short against North Miami in their previous meeting back in December of 2020, falling 72-63. Thankfully for Miami Beach, Chamon Metayer (who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 15 rebounds, and ten assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
