Basketball Recap: Imater Charter Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

IMater Charter had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 55-43 to the Doral Academy Firebirds on Monday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Defeat or not, iMater Charter got some senior leadership from Alexander Masis and Brian Benitez. Masis posted 17 points, while Benitez scored 14 points.

Doral Academy can attribute much of their success to Derek Rocha, who put up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Bruno Rodriguez, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 13 points.

IMater Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-56 victory against Hialeah Gardens on the 18th. As for Doral Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-24 win against Carol City on the 20th.
