Basketball Game Preview: DeMatha Stags vs. Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons

DeMatha is 9-1 against Our Lady of Good Counsel since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The DeMatha Stags are taking a road trip to square off against the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons at 7:30 p.m. DeMatha knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Our Lady of Good Counsel likes a good challenge.

DeMatha's upcoming game probably won't be as stressful as their last, when they took on another nationally ranked opponent: Bishop O'Connell, who was ranked 34th at the time (DeMatha was ranked 20th). DeMatha walked away with a 67-58 victory over Bishop O'Connell on Tuesday.

Ashton (Ace) Meeks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Wallace, who posted five points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of Good Counsel suffered their biggest defeat since December 22, 2024 on Tuesday. They took a blow against Gonzaga, falling 83-54. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

DeMatha's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-5. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

DeMatha beat Our Lady of Good Counsel 66-55 when the teams last played on Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for DeMatha since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
