Preview: Daphne Trojans vs. Auburn Tigers
The Daphne Trojans will take on the Auburn Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Daphne will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Auburn is ranked 23rd).
Daphne and Fairhope squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly Daphne had to settle for second. They were dealt a 74-47 loss at the hands of the Pirates.
Meanwhile, Auburn had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Central out 71-68. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Auburn has posted since December 21, 2023.
Tabari Allen was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Griffin Mclean was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Daphne's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Auburn, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.
