Volleyball Recap: Hanks Knights vs. Americas Trail Blazers

Hanks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Americas Trail Blazers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trail Blazers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-1 loss back in September.

Hanks was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Americas work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 29-27, 25-20.

Sarai Flores and Ariana Guillen certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Flores had 23 digs and one assist, while Guillen had eight digs and two aces. Flores has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more digs the last 18 times she's played.

Americas found their leader in sophomore Sydney Avila, who had 32 digs and two aces. Those 32 digs set a new season-high mark for Avila.

Hanks' defeat dropped their record down to 11-21. As for Americas, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 21-15.

Hanks wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Burges on the 30th. As for Americas, after both having extra time off, they and El Paso will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 3:35 p.m. on Friday.
