Volleyball Recap: Polson Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Polson proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Columbia Falls Wildcats 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted against the Wildcats since September 19, 2023.

Polson was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (103-100), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 17-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-11.

Leading Polson to victory were Rylee Taylor-Jefferson and Kendyl Jaeger. Taylor-Jefferson had four digs and two aces, while Jaeger had eight digs and two aces. Those eight digs gave Jaeger a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, Columbia Falls saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ava Scholz had 33 digs and four assists. Those 33 digs set a new season-high mark for Scholz.

The win was the ninth in a row for Polson, bringing their record up to 11-2. As for Columbia Falls, their loss ended a five-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6-1.

Polson has already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Whitefish on the 21st. As for Columbia Falls, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Ronan on the 21st.
