The Maroa-Forsyth Trojans will head out to challenge the Olympia Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maroa-Forsyth will be strutting in after a win while Olympia will be coming in after a loss.
On Tuesday, Maroa-Forsyth earned a 2-0 victory over PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central.
Maroa-Forsyth never let PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-23.
Maroa-Forsyth can attribute much of their success to Sydney Pottala, who had nine digs and two aces. That's the most aces Pottala has posted over her last eight contests.
Meanwhile, Olympia didn't have quite enough to beat Athens on Tuesday and fell 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Olympia sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-14, 16-25, 25-19.
Maroa-Forsyth will have to keep a close watch on Brooklyn Komnick and Aubrey Rycyzyn, a pair of players who had a big impact on Olympia's prior game. Komnick had 15 digs and six kills, while Rycyzyn had 17 digs and three aces.
Olympia now has a losing record of 15-16. As for Maroa-Forsyth, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

However, it's not like Olympia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
