Baseball Game Preview: Park City Miners vs. Cottonwood Colts

For the second straight game, Park City will face off against Cottonwood. The Miners will square off against the Colts at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Park City is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.

On Tuesday, Park City made easy work of Cottonwood and carried off a 14-4 win. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Park City let Wesley Dewitt and Justin Michaelis run wild. Dewitt scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Michaelis fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI Michaelis has posted since back in March of 2024. Cameron Nester was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Park City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Park City pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Cottonwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Park City has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Cottonwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
