League recap: Pahokee win leads to rise in state rank

3A District 7 recap Oct. 23, 2012

Pahokee moved up to 242 from 275 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A District 7. The Blue Devils were able to make move up by a bye.

American Heritage extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cardinal Newman, 49-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Stallions.

The Crusaders' dynamic duo of George Mastics and Devonte Brown proved tough for American Heritage to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mastics threw for 46 yards and Brown had 25 yards receiving. Matt Burke helped Cardinal Newman's passing attack out by catching one ball for 14 yards.

Greg Bryant was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 230 yards as Stacy Sizemore's team fell to Stacy Sizemore's team.

Calvary Christian Academy's Isaac Hoza and Alex Fifelski have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A District 7 in both passing and receiving yards. Hoza has thrown for 1238 yards this season, while Fifelski has 32 catches for 580 yards. Erick Hardnett from Steven Walsh's team leads the league in rushing with 682 yards.
