Basketball Recap: Portageville Comes Up Short

Portageville was the 47-44 winner over Campbell when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Portageville Bulldogs took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Campbell Camels on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Camels are ranked 58th).

Portageville dropped their record down to 5-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Campbell, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portageville has already played their next match (against Senath-Hornersville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Campbell will face off against Caruthersville at 7:30 p.m. on January 21st.
