Softball Recap: Pymatuning Valley Comes Up Short

The Pymatuning Valley Lakers lost 16-5 to the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals on Saturday. The Lakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McKenna Jordan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Macie Payne also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Pymatuning Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Cardinal Mooney, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Pymatuning Valley will venture away from home to face off against St. John at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Heralds have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Cardinal Mooney, they will head out on the road to challenge John F. Kennedy Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.29 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
