Basketball Recap: Bethel Assembly Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Bethel Assembly Christian Academy extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-3. They lost to Northeast Academy on the road by a 50-35 margin. Bethel Assembly Christian Academy was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Northeast Academy earlier this season, when they won 53-41.

Despite the loss, Bethel Assembly Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Easton Hobbs dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Hobbs is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jack Johnson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Northeast Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northeast Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Judson Smith, who went 12-for-26 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds. Those 25 points gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Taylor, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Bethel Assembly Christian Academy will face off against Coastal Brigade at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coastal Brigade has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Northeast Academy, they will take on Christ Covenant at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
