Recap: Alta Hawks vs. Pleasant Grove Vikings
It was a good run, but the Alta Hawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pleasant Grove. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Alta has scored all season.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fuifuilupe Niumeitolu, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Niumeitolu scored a full 28.8% of Alta's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aolele Liavaa, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Amber Cook was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with four steals for Pleasant Grove. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. Tabi Clark was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four blocks.
Alta's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Pleasant Grove, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Alta will be home for the holidays to greet Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kearns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday. Pleasant Grove won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cyprus at 5:15 p.m. on December 15th. Cyprus is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.6 points per game.
