Baseball Recap: Fruita Monument Starts off Right with Win over Ponderosa

Fruita Monument took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Ponderosa Mustangs 4-2. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 10-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Carson Hines looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Blake Elsberry was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Fruita Monument wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-6 victory against Rampart on the 7th. As for Ponderosa, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-11 win against Palisade on the 7th.
