Softball Game Preview: South Portland Red Riots vs. Massabesic Mustangs

The South Portland Red Riots will challenge the Massabesic Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Portland has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Portland lost 16-6 to Cheverus on Wednesday.

Jillian Edgar was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Annalise Soucy, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Massabesic fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Kennebunk on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 8-7.

South Portland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Massabesic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
