Football Recap: Mesa Verde Comes Up Short

Mesa Verde was the 37-14 winner over Rio Vista when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mavericks took a blow against the Rams on Friday, falling 65-32. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Mesa Verde lost, don't look at Jaiden Johns. Despite the final result, he threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes.

Ethan Friedel produced another solid performance rushing for 356 yards and seven scores while picking up 11.9 yards per carry for Rio Vista. With that strong performance, Friedel is now averaging an impressive 125.9 rushing yards per game. Emmett Medders was another key player, rushing for 89 yards and one TD on only ten carries.

Mesa Verde now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Rio Vista, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
