Baseball Recap: Brazos Comes Up Short

Brazos lost against Shiner back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Brazos Cougars fell 13-10 to the Shiner Comanches. Even if the Cougars couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Luke Polasek was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Brayden Krahn was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Brazos is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6. As for Shiner, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Coming up, Brazos is taking a road trip to face off against Giddings at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Shiner, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 18-2 defeat against Hallettsville on the 8th.
