Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Spartans vs. Yorkville Foxes

The St. Francis Spartans will square off against the Yorkville Foxes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Yorkville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Francis, who comes in off a win.

St. Francis had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 47-38 win over Oak Park-River Forest.

Courtny Bridgeforth was the offensive standout of the matchup as she shot 70% from the field on her way to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Ashley Powell, who posted eight points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Yorkville came up short against Naperville North on Thursday and fell 51-43.

St. Francis took a serious blow against Yorkville in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 71-39. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
