Volleyball Recap: Shelby Comes Up Short

Shelby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Chase Trojans, falling 3-0. The Golden Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in September of 2023.

Shelby took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16, 25-18.

Chase's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Byrd, who had 13 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Byrd has posted over her last four matchups. Another player making a difference was MyleeKaye Fincher, who had five digs and three aces.

Shelby's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Chase, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-12.

Shelby wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Highland Tech on the 23rd. As for Chase, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against R-S Central on the 23rd.
