Baseball Game Preview: Santana Sultans vs. Monte Vista Monarchs

Santana has gone a perfect 10-0 against Monte Vista recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Sultans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monarchs at 4:00 p.m.

Santana fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Steele Canyon on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 7-2 to the Cougars. The Sultans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nathan Dowers was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Santana saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Dibble, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Meanwhile, Monte Vista entered their tilt with Mount Miguel on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Matadors.

Antonio Mccomb was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. Damian Ordaz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Monte Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Santana now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Monte Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 8-17.

Santana came out on top in a nail-biter against Monte Vista in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Sultans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Monarchs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
