Basketball Recap: Heritage Leadership Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Youngsville Academy Charter on Thursday, Heritage Leadership Academy came back down to earth. The Fletchers were outmatched by the NC GBB Academy Eagles and fell 86-38. The Fletchers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-20.

Heritage Leadership Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mark Knetsch, who went 5-for-6 en route to 13 points, and Eli Huston, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 13 points and six rebounds. Huston is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jason Martin was another key player, putting up no points and three steals.

Jack Labie was his usual excellent self, earning 23 points in addition to eight assists and seven steals for NC GBB Academy. Labie continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Larenz Stevenson, who posted ten points along with five boards and three blocks.

Heritage Leadership Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for NC GBB Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Heritage Leadership Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-53 victory against Durham Charter on the 20th. As for NC GBB Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cannon at 7:00 p.m. on December 2.
