Football Game Preview: Woodlawn Colonels vs. Parker Thundering Herd + How To Watch

Woodlawn hasn't had much luck against Parker recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Colonels will head out on the road to square off against the Thundering Herd at 7:00 p.m. Woodlawn has given up an average of 33.4 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Woodlawn took a 26-point defeat the last time they faced off against Gardendale, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Colonels came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rockets on Friday, sneaking past 40-37. The Colonels' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Parker came up short against Homewood on Friday and fell 35-28.

Woodlawn will need to focus on slowing down Isaiah Miles, one of several Parker players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 110 yards and one TD on only ten carries. Parker also got help from Jacoby Quates Jr, who showed off his sure hands for 97 receiving yards.

Parker didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Johnny Moody. Parker received some extra help from Anthony Craig, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Parker's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Woodlawn, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-6.

Woodlawn was dealt a bruising 62-0 defeat at the hands of Parker when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Thundering Herd's Dylan Reese, who threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80.8% of his passes.
