Basketball Recap: Maconaquah Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Maconaquah kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Eastern Comets, falling 86-64. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Maconaquah saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Gochenour went 8-for-16 en route to 25 points and five boards. Caiden Richards was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Maconaquah won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Braves their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Eastern, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Alexandria-Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
