Baseball Recap: Mishawaka Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

There's no place like home for Mishawaka, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Northridge Raiders on Friday by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was payback for the Cavemen, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Drew Ginter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Izaiah Bute, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

Mishawaka is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Northridge, they moved to 7-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Mishawaka will challenge Elkhart Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cavemen are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Northridge, they will be playing at home against Chesterton at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
