Softball Recap: Clemens Buffaloes vs. Steele Knights
After flying high against Judson last Friday, Clemens came back down to earth. Clemens fell just short of the Steele Knights by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-6 back in February.
Erika Padron made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Aubry Willmann was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Clemens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steele only posted a batting average of .240.
Clemens has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season. Steele pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Clemens will face off against rival San Marcos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Steele is set to challenge their familiar foe East Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
