Baseball Recap: Union Catholic Takes a Loss

Union Catholic had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-3 to make it four. They fell 6-2 to the Oratory Prep Rams. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Brian McCabe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Oratory Prep, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Oratory Prep's side, Caden Breault was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Breault was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brendan Keown, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Blake Duddy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

While Union Catholic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
