Softball Recap: Canon City Takes a Loss

After flying high against Palmer on Thursday, Canon City came back down to earth. The Tigers took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Widefield Gladiators on Saturday. The Tigers have struggled against the Gladiators recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Allisyn Gasseling made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Cammi Leis, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Canon City's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Widefield, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canon City will challenge Mesa Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Grizzlies have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Widefield, they will take on Doherty at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.69 runs per game on average), something the Gladiators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
