Basketball Recap: Oasis Christian Falls to Calvary Chapel Academy in First Game of Season

Oasis Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles and fell 84-18. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 63-12.

Despite the loss, Oasis Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jordan Almonte posted nine points.

Calvary Chapel Academy was led to victory by Ephram Welsh and Noah Bolen. Welsh dropped a double-double with 30 points and 13 boards, while Bolen went 15-for-17 en route to 30 points and four steals. Welsh's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Wadsworth, who put up eight points.

Oasis Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 78-39 defeat against Universal Academy on the 21st. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 73-39 victory against Brevard HEAT on the 18th.
