Volleyball Recap: Tomahawk Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Sophie Olsen and Shelby Borowski

Tomahawk lost against Merrill back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hatchets lost 3-0 to the Bluejays. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hatchets have suffered since October 12, 2024.

While Tomahawk was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-15, 25-11.

Despite the defeat, Tomahawk had strong showings from Shelby Borowski, who had six digs and two aces, and Sophie Olsen, who had 16 digs and two assists. Borowski is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Merrill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Miley Krueger out in front who had seven digs and four aces. That's the most digs Krueger has posted over her last ten games. Gabby Wheeler was another key player, getting four digs and four aces.

Tomahawk has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Merrill, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Tomahawk wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Ashland on the 11th. As for Merrill, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Athens at 9:00 a.m.
