Softball Recap: East Laurens Comes Up Short

East Laurens and Swainsboro squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but East Laurens had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since October 31, 2024.

DeAndrea Lowther spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Olivea Jackson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

East Laurens' loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Swainsboro, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Laurens beat the Tigers by a score of 2-1 later that day.
