After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northeastern, Blue River Valley was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Elwood Panthers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since April 20th.

Evan Zentz was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Zentz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Rector, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Blue River Valley's record now sits at 8-9. As for Elwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Elwood beat Blue River Valley by a score of 12-6 later that day.
