Football Recap: Pflugerville Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After soaring to 62 points the game before, Pflugerville was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They were dealt a 70-6 defeat at the hands of the Bastrop Bears. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-6.

Cole Taylor threw for 198 yards and one touchdown. Breland Hill was his top target, picking up 65 receiving yards.

Bastrop was led to victory by Weston Nielsen and Gary Jefferson Jr.. Nielsen threw for 252 yards and six TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes, while Jefferson Jr. gained 211 total yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Nielsen a new career-high in rushing yards (78). Diego Rangel was Nielsen's top target, picking up 80 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Pflugerville's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Bastrop, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Looking ahead, Pflugerville will face off against Pflugerville Connally at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Bastrop, they will square off against Liberty Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' defense better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 53.2 points per game this season.
