Basketball Recap: Kevin Gordon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Nunamiut over Unalaska

Nunamiut's tournament run continued when they took on Unalaska on Friday. The Nunamiut Amaguq took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Unalaska Raiders.

Nunamiut's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevin Gordon, who almost dropped a double-double on nine boards and nine steals. Those nine rebounds gave Gordon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was George Bifelt, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Nunamiut's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Unalaska, they moved to 1-1 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Nunamiut wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 64-43 victory against Nenana on the 18th. Unalaska has also already played their next contest, a 50-46 defeat against Birchwood Christian on the 18th.
