Baseball Game Preview: South Pasadena Tigers vs. California Condors

The South Pasadena Tigers will square off against the California Condors at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, South Pasadena came up short against El Rancho and fell 9-6. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Pasadena saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Phil Malatesta, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Another was Diego Gurfein, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

While California didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Sonora on Tuesday.

Adam Vitela spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Luke Martinez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

South Pasadena now has a losing record of 3-4. As for California, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
