Softball Game Preview: Winters Mill Falcons vs. Francis Scott Key Eagles

For the first time this season, Winters Mill will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to take on the Francis Scott Key Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Winters Mill made easy work of Wilde Lake and carried off a 24-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Ashleigh Sharp made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Sharp was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Addison Lohr was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Chandice Hood was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Meanwhile, Francis Scott Key and Marriotts Ridge finished up their matchup with a 0-0 tie on Tuesday.

Francis Scott Key's tie gives them a new season record of 1-1-1. As for Winters Mill, their record now sits at 2-0.

Winters Mill suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Francis Scott Key in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Winters Mill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
