Football Game Preview: Marina Mariners vs. Gonzales Spartans + How To Watch

The Marina Mariners are taking a road trip to challenge the Gonzales Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marina will be strutting in after a win while Gonzales will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Marina made easy work of Harbor and carried off a 42-22 victory.

Elan Espinoza was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 281 yards and three TDs, and also punched in one rushing score. Titus Calvera was another key player, gaining 158 total yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Marina proved: they limited Harbor to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. The Mariners' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.5.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 44 points the game before, Gonzales was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They took a 26-7 bruising from Pajaro Valley.

Marina's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Gonzales, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Marina was taken down by Gonzales 42-6 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mariners were down 28-0.
